The Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls are spectacular trick riders and their
performances are guaranteed to keep an audience holding its breath.
Their repertoire of tricks includes standing tall in the saddle while waving
American flags.
Once a professional rodeo champion and Hollywood stunt cowboy, Tom
Maier was in a career-ending accident in 1956. That winter he established
Riata Ranch on 6 acres of land in California. Today Maier and expert
instructors work with young women (over 300 so far) teaching them the
simple truths needed for self confidence. There's hard work for the girls
too; they experience all aspects of ranch life, from herding and roping
cattle to catching and breaking mustangs and young horses.
The Cowboy girls have performed on television, in parades, at the
Olympics and rodeos and have traveled to 15 contries.
Ages 8 and up.
